Amazon's first foray into original programming: A series based on Zombieland, the popular movie starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone. The Verge brings the news, citing Broadcast Now, but notes that the series probably won't debut anytime soon: io9 got a peek at the casting sheets and scripts last week, and it appears work on the project is in its beginning stages. Netflix is starting its own original content push this year, with House of Cards on Feb. 1 and Arrested Development later.

When it does arrive, Charlie Jane Anders at io9 thinks the show "looks quite promising." The characters and humor seem to be in keeping with the movie, but the relationships between the main four (Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock, for whom there are currently casting calls) "will probably become a bit sweeter and more like a family as the show goes on."
