One Florida county clerk has some very specific ideas about how his 160 employees should dress. Osceola County boss Armando Ramirez has issued an incredibly detailed six-page dress code prohibiting everything from ankle-high boots (when worn with dresses and skirts, that is) to sequins to stirrup pants, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The document even includes photos illustrating appropriate attire. Ramirez worried that the old one-and-a-half page policy had too many loopholes, a spokesman explains. The clerk initialed his opus beneath the inscription, "SO LET IT BE WRITTEN. SO LET IT BE DONE."
The policy was met with rampant bewilderment among employees. "We definitely need a dress code … but a few of those things are surprising," one said, citing some inclusions, like a prohibition on clothing displaying gang affiliations, that "we've never had a problem with." And no one's sure what to make of the quote, which appears to be either a reference to the Ten Commandments movie or a Metallica song. The spokesman says it's a stamp, which is "equivalent to 'approved by' for internal use only." (More Armando Ramirez stories.)
