For Apple fanistas, Christmas—as in Macworld—is just around the corner. The annual Mac lovefest in San Francisco opens with a Steve Jobs keynote that usually reveals Apple’s latest and greatest, such as last year’s show-stopping iPhone. What’s in store next week? It could be the Mac helping WiMAX technology hit the mainstream, reports All Things Digital.

WiMAX technology is supposed to afford users high-speed Internet access even in moving vehicles, but adoption of it has been slow. A number of PCs already offer WiMAX cards, but networks are few, with Sprint the only big carrier to make it a major focus. Speculation that Apple could join the WiMax push has been fueled by the hoisting of banners reading “There is Something in the Air" during Macworld setup. (More Macintosh stories.)
