(AP Photo/Susan Walsh) John McCain wasn't easy on Chuck Hagel during the defense secretary nominee's confirmation hearing—but it looks as though he and other Republicans are letting up. (After all, the two were friends before falling out.) McCain says he opposes a filibuster of Hagel's confirmation and will urge his colleagues against the idea, the New York Times reports. With Sens. Richard Burr, Susan Collins, and Roy Blunt also opposing a filibuster, Hagel appears to have more than enough votes for confirmation. While firm opponents could still use procedural measures to hamper the process, a confirmation ultimately looks likely, the Times notes.
