At least four people are dead in a series of shootings along two Southern California freeways, including the suspected gunman. Police got their first call at about 4:45am from a home in the Tustin area, where they found one woman's body with multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect, a man in his 20s, fled in an SUV, police tell KTLA. After that, police responded to a carjacking near the 5 Freeway and a shootout ensued in which one bystander was shot, NBC Los Angeles reports.

A second carjacking was then reported near the 55 freeway, during which the victim was killed. A third was reported further down the freeway, this time with two victims, one dead and one in critical condition. Police finally located the stolen vehicle in an electronics store parking lot. "When a stop was initiated, the suspect shot and killed himself," Tustin police said in a statement, while the Orange County Sheriff's Department said that there "are no other shooters and there is no immediate threat to the community." Traffic on the southbound 55 Freeway has slowed as police investigate. (More Tustin stories.)
