If the Oscar Pistorius trial in South Africa didn't call to mind the OJ trial before the latest drama with the (now-ousted) lead detective, allow Gawker to draw the parallels between South African cop Hilton Botha and former LAPD cop Mark Fuhrman. But what does Furhman himself think of the new case? It's "crystal clear" to him that Pistorius deliberately killed Reeva Steenkamp, reports Fox News. Says Fuhrman: “Here is what he admits. 'I shot my girlfriend.’ And he has to admit he fought with her in the past, because the police had been there previously. That’s really all you need to know here.”

Fuhrman doesn't think the allegations of police bungling will affect the outcome, and neither does another figure from the OJ case, attorney Robert Shapiro, who represented Simpson. "I really don't think the detectives are really going to be much of an issue in this case," he tells MSNBC, reports USA Today. The key difference is that Pistorius will testify, unlike Simpson. And because a single judge, not a jury, will make the final decision, it all comes down to one question the judge will ask himself, says Shapiro: "Do I believe what Mr. Pistorius is telling us?"
