Anna Wintour has a new title—and, though rumors have been swirling for years that President Obama might make the Vogue editor an ambassador, it's not that. Rather, Vogue's parent company Condé Nast is making her artistic director, the company announced today. Wintour, 63, will remain Vogue's editor, a position she's held for almost 25 years, the New York Times reports. And thus, speculation that Wintour might leave the magazine or Condé Nast as a whole was put to rest.

The move makes Wintour "one of the most powerful women in magazine publishing," the Times notes. Some of her new responsibilities were once under the umbrella of Condé Nast chairman SI Newhouse Jr., who has been giving up his day-to-day responsibilities. "Newhouse leaves a void, inevitably," says Condé Nast's CEO. "Anna, without even having to think twice about it, is the most qualified person to pick up that torch and carry it into the future." Another amusing Wintour story that bubbled up today: She apparently loathes Kim Kardashian and refused to even acknowledge her existence at New York Fashion Week. (More Conde Nast stories.)
