Chavez May Not Be Embalmed After All

Looks like Hugo Chavez will not be joining the ranks of Mao and Lenin as leaders embalmed for all eternity. Venezuelan VP Nicolas Maduro said today that plans to put Chavez's body on permanent display will likely be scrapped, reports AP. Maduro said the government consulted Russian experts who concluded that Chavez's body had not been prepared in time. The government announced Chavez's death on March 5 and the embalming plans two days later. It's not clear what happens now, but the AP also notes that Chavez had publicly stated his wish to be buried in his hometown of Sabaneta.
