The Internet is all aflutter over the resemblance between President Obama and one Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni, the actor who happens to be playing Satan in the History Channel's The Bible miniseries. Glenn Beck tweeted about it Saturday, but things really took off on Twitter when last night's episode aired, USA Today reports. But as the Daily Intelligencer points out, this isn't exactly the same as when Game of Thrones used a George W. Bush prop head. That was purposeful; this is just an actor who happens to have a face that looks somewhat similar to the president's.
"Even if the conspiracy theorists are right and filmmakers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey purposefully cast the actor because of his resemblance to the president, that resemblance is purely a coincidence," writes Adam Martin. But in the Hollywood Reporter, Jordan Zakarin says "makeup and other production tricks" notched up the resemblance. Zakarin also points out, however, that Burnett has donated to Democratic candidates—including Obama. (More Satan stories.)
