The folks at Westboro Baptist Church probably won't like the new color scheme of the house across the street, even if they'll likely embrace the publicity that comes with it. The new owner of the home across from the anti-gay church in Topeka is painting it in the rainbow colors of gay pride, reports NPR. As a final touch, Aaron Jackson will plant a rainbow flag in front of what he's calling "Equality House."
Jackson, founder of the Planting Peace charity, says he was inspired by a 10-year-old who staged a protest of the group. He poked around on Google Earth to find the church and spotted a for-sale sign at the house he now owns, he tells the Huffington Post. "Right away it hit me, 'Oh my gosh, I could buy a house in front of the WBC!' And immediately I thought: 'And I'm going to paint that thing the color of the pride flag.'" He and volunteers are painting it today, and Gawker has a photo. Click for more. (Westboro, meanwhile, has responded (NSFW) as only it can.)
