The second time was the charm for Ethiopian Lelisa Desisa, who won the men's portion of the 117th Boston Marathon today with a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 22 seconds, five seconds better than his nearest competitor, Kenya's Micah Kogo. It was Desisa's second time running of the marathon, the AP reports. Meanwhile, Rita Jeptoo of Kenya won the women's race by a cool 33 seconds.

Jeptoo has won the marathon once before, back in 2006. In the interim, she took two years off to have a baby. Hiroyuki Yamamoto of Japan won the wheelchair race by an even more impressive 39 seconds. (More Rita Jeptoo stories.)
