Charges Dropped Against Ricin Suspect; New Home Searched

Attorneys for the Elvis impersonator accused of sending toxic letters to President Obama and others have said from the start that their client was framed. Now it's looking like they might be right: Authorities today dismissed charges against Paul Kevin Curtis and released him from prison, reports CNN. A one-sentence court filing said new information had become available without providing details, reports AP. Yesterday, authorities revealed that they had found no evidence of ricin at Curtis' apartment.

So what now? The Clarion-Ledger reports that federal authorities today searched the home of an another Mississippi man identified as J. Everett Dutschke. The newspaper describes the 41-year-old as a "disgraced former politician" who is currently the subject of a child molestation investigation. He also has had run-ins, at least of the online variety, with Curtis. “I don’t know anything about this," he says. "Where are the allegations coming from? Who made the allegations?
