A raft of new information is emerging in the Boston bombing probe. Authorities are investigating whether Tamerlan Tsarnaev used money from drug deals to fund the plot, an insider tells CNN. Meanwhile, the Tsarnaev brothers' parents have spoken to US and Russian officials, and the father is headed to the US as soon as tomorrow, a Dagestan activist says. He says his wife will join him, according to Russian state news; a police insider says they're helping in the probe.

In other case-related news, a Maryland congressman on the House Select Committee on Intelligence says the brothers' trigger for the attack was similar to a remote control for a toy car. Massachusetts' chief medical examiner still has custody of Tamerlan's body, and the cause of death remains uncertain. Elsewhere, officials note that Dzhokhar didn't have a gun when hiding on a boat before his capture. As for the victims: Some 33 remain hospitalized, and 14 have had amputations. One person is still in critical condition, CNN reports. (More drug dealing stories.)
