Tim Tebow's legion of haters are probably, well, Tebowing right now. The Jets have released their popular-yet-controversial backup today, the New York Post reports, ending a tenure that produced a lot more headlines than touchdowns (Tebow actually didn't score any as a Jet).

The move had been long expected ever since Rex Ryan passed over Tebow for Greg McElroy when he sat Mark Sanchez last year, but as recently as Friday the AP was writing that "in a surprise twist," Tebow might stick around. Tebow will now be a free agent, though the market for his services won't be large. Hey, if all else fails, there's always politics. (More Tim Tebow stories.)
