Police have unveiled a series of images showing a suspect in yesterday's shooting in New Orleans. The surveillance camera footage shows a crowd of people at an intersection; close to the camera, there's a man near a set of steps. When he runs forward with his arm up, the crowd disperses, NPR reports. Police have cited three suspects in the attack.
The 19 injured in the shooting were 10 men, seven women, and two 10-year-olds, a boy and a girl, police say, per the Times-Picayune. Meanwhile, a medical student who attended the parade offers a firsthand account at the Daily Beast. After a "sound like firecrackers ... all the people in the street started moving in one giant wave away from the intersection," Jarratt Pytell writes. He saw a gunman, he says: "He was a young black kid. Couldn’t have been older than 18, skinny, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, standing with his hand outstretched, firing rapidly into the middle of the street." Pytell rushed to help several victims; click for his full story. (More New Orleans stories.)
