Angelina Jolie was back at work just days after her double mastectomy, Dr. Kristi Funk reveals in a blog post about the star's medical journey. "To a large extent, I believe recovery reflects expectation. Angelina expected to feel well, to be active," Funk writes on the Pink Lotus Breast Center website. "On day four after her mastectomies, I was pleased to find her not only in good spirits with bountiful energy, but with two walls in her house covered with freshly assembled storyboards for the next project she is directing. All the while she spoke, six drains dangled from her chest, three on each side, fastened to an elastic belt around her waist."

Funk also mentions Brad Pitt, though not by name, simply noting that Jolie's "partner was on hand to greet her as soon as she came around from the anesthetic, as he was during each of the operations." Someone who apparently was not a part of the process: Jolie's father, Jon Voight, who learned about the mastectomies online just like the rest of the world, Radar reports. In related news, rumors have been flying that Jolie will have her ovaries removed next, thanks to this report in People. And she appears on the cover of Time today with the headline, "The Angelina Effect." Click to see the cover. (More Angelina Jolie stories.)
