Rudy Giuliani's strategy of skipping ahead to Florida could still pay off big, or could leave him dead in the Gulf Coast water, reports the Guardian. Giuliani is now pulling out all the stops as he sinks behind John McCain in polls, and the rest of the field joins the contest for the delegate-rich state that the former mayor has had largely to himself.
Florida is long on both military bases and former New Yorkers who think well of Rudy, and the contest for the highly diverse state is less likely to be decided by a narrow band of voters than other early primaries. Still, Giuliani has just a single delegate to his name, trailing even longshot Ron Paul. Actor Jon Voight, a staunch supporter of America's Mayor, senses the urgency. "I know this has to happen, and Florida's got to do it," he said. (More Rudy Giuliani stories.)
