Two of the remaining free members of Pussy Riot held a secretive meet-and-greet with activists and sympathizers at a New York City feminist book store, even removing their trademark masks as a sign of trust. The meeting was only publicized through word-of-mouth, with invitees ordered to keep it off social media. The Guardian was allowed to attend, as long as it promised to wait to report on it for 48 hours.

The punk rockers, identified only as Fara and Shaiba, also said they'd had a "very productive" meeting with Occupy activists on Sunday. "We are keeping the spirit alive. Continue the riot," they said through a translator. "We are here on a special mission to try to establish connections with like-minded people." Of course, the visit was also timed to promote HBO's upcoming documentary about the band. Though Fara and Shaiba have thus far kept a low profile, their presence in the US alone could heighten tensions with Russia. (More Pussy Riot stories.)
