Meet Edward Snowden’s Pole-Dancing Girlfriend
Lindsay Mills is shown in one of her YouTube videos.   (YouTube)

A few outlets have identified Lindsay Mills as the girlfriend of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, and up until this morning, quite a bit of information about her (not to mention quite a few scantily-clad pictures) was available online. She had a blog, which now appears to have been taken down; her YouTube account, which features several videos of her pole-dancing, is still online as of this writing. So is her Twitter account, to which she's posted twice since Snowden outed himself: "I have lost my compass and find myself adrift in a sea..." and "To delete or not to delete. That is the question." More from Gawker, BuzzFeed, and Daily Intel, which grabbed pictures and info from Mills' blog while it was still available:

  • Mills' most recent blog post appeared to reference the Snowden situation, without specifically doing so. She writes that she feels "alone" and mentions people to whom she "never got to bid adieu." Snowden fled the country without telling anyone, including his girlfriend, what was going on. He told the Guardian over the weekend that the NSA has already spoken to his girlfriend.
  • Mills is 28; Inside Edition reports that she graduated from the Maryland College of Art and lives in Hawaii; she's a former ballet dancer who reportedly works with the Waikiki Acrobatic Troupe.
  • In one blog post from July 2012, she wrote that she had "moved to Hawaii to continue my relationship with E," and said it had been "quite an up and down emotional roller coaster." She calls "E" her "man of mystery" and references previously living with him in Japan, and in one post says she was happy to finally introduce him to "skeptical" friends who "weren't quite sure E existed."
  • She mostly stayed away from political writings, but did once post, "For the land that I love is ever-changing and I fear that it’s straying from the freedom it has always represented. America is still one of the greatest, but she’s falling in my eyes. I hope her people see where she’s going and ask themselves 'is this really how I want to live?'"
