The hunt for the remains of Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa is back on. US agents today searched a field in suburban Detroit, ostensibly on a tip from this man. The special agent in charge of the FBI's Detroit division confirmed that the agency and its partners executed a search warrant in Oakland Township, north of Detroit, "based on information that we have involving the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa." He gave no additional details.

The Detroit Free Press reports by way of sources that the agents are searching a "concentrated area" of the grassy field, which is located alongside a dirt road. As we previously reported, Tony Zerilli in January claimed Hoffa was buried in a field located about 20 miles from the Detroit-area restaurant where Hoffa was last seen in 1975. Zerilli was in prison when Hoffa disappeared but told the media he was informed about Hoffa's whereabouts after his release. Multiple previous leads to Hoffa's supposed remains have turned out to be red herrings. (More Jimmy Hoffa stories.)
