New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman seems less than thrilled about Alex Rodriguez's tweet announcing that he has been cleared to play in rehab games as he recovers from a long-term hip injury. "You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]," Cashman tells ESPN. "Alex should just shut the f--k up. That's it. I'm going to call Alex now." He says no date has been set for Rodriguez to play in rehab games and the doctor who supposedly gave the OK no longer has jurisdiction over the third baseman.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi was a little more diplomatic on the subject of A-Rod after his team's 4-3 victory over the Texas Rangers last night, reports the AP. "I don't tweet, and I really don't follow Twitter. So I probably don't really know much of what is going on. As far as I know he has not been cleared," he said. "There's always a chain of command with injuries. There has to be and that's the process. It goes through our training staff, our doctors, and our GM and then it goes to me.
