Weiner, Spitzer Leading Polls

Perhaps any publicity really is good publicity. Despite their high-profile sex scandals—or maybe because of them—both Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer are leading their respective Democratic primary races, according to a new poll by Quinnipiac University. The poll of 738 Democratic voters found 25% supported Weiner for mayor of New York—though only just ahead of Christine Quinn at 22%, and with a 4% margin of error on the poll, technically they're neck and neck—and 48% supported Spitzer for comptroller, the New York Times reports. Of course, that's much better news for Spitzer than Weiner, as the latter is nowhere near the 40% needed to avoid a run-off after the September 10 primary, and will likely have to face off with Quinn again in October.
