Billy Gillispie got perhaps his biggest win so far as the first-year coach of Kentucky, stunning No. 3 Tennessee in a signature 72-66 win. The high-scoring Volunteers were held to just 39% shooting from the field—7 of 26 from long range—and the Wildcats' ball-control offense ensured a manageable pace. Also in college hoops:

  • No. 22 Drake celebrated its first ranked game in 33 years with a 68-60 overtime win; Josh Young's three-pointer put the Bulldogs ahead for good.
  • No. 11 Wisconsin staved off a feisty Michigan team, 64-61, despite giving up a 36-24 rebounding edge.
