Amanda Bynes' Parents Step In
Amanda Bynes arrives for a court appearance, in New York, Tuesday, July 9, 2013. The 27-year-old actress is charged with reckless endangerment and attempted tampering with physical evidence. Amanda Bynes' parents have taken a page from Jamie Spears' parenting book and have filed for temporary conservatorship of their daughter—a move that would allow them to control her personal and financial decisions, reports TMZ. In a hearing this morning, Rick and Lynn Bynes will need to prove their daughter is unable to care for herself or to handle her affairs in order to get the go-ahead, E! reports. (Radar reports only Lynn's name appears on court documents.) Bynes, as you'll recall, was hospitalized on psychiatric hold earlier this week, and the gossip site reports her psych-ward stay has been extended another two weeks; its sources say doctors felt they needed the extra time to properly diagnose her.

And as though there weren't enough similarities between Bynes and Britney Spears—who was put on psychiatric hold before her father became her conservator in 2008—Radar is reporting a new-found friendship between Bynes and Spears' former manager, Sam Lutfi. "The two became friends in recent months ... Sam bought Amanda the plane ticket for her to return to Los Angeles from New York City," says a source. Lutfi has denied the claim.
