Amelia Earhart might complete her fateful route yet. In this case, however, it will be Amelia Rose Earhart, a Denver TV anchor and pilot who plans to re-create her namesake's route next summer, reports USA Today. The 30-year-old claims distant-relative status because she traced her own roots back to the 1700s and found that she and the original Amelia "share a common ancestry."
Earhart will set out with a navigator on a two-week flight that retraces the original route as closely as possible. Their plane will obviously be much more high-tech—a $4.6 million PC-12 NG provided by a sponsor. And this time, expect the flight to be live-streamed. "Amelia Earhart said adventure is worthwhile in itself," she says. "Whatever your version of flying is—it could be starting a business, it could be something entrepreneurial—we want to encourage people to pursue their own adventure."
