Jennifer Lawrence never really thought about acting as a kid, but she still had a premonition about her future. "I’ve never said this before,” she says in a new Vogue cover interview, “because there is no way to say it without it being completely misunderstood, but ever since I was really little, I always had a very normal idea of what I wanted: I was going to be a mom and I was going to be a doctor and I was going to live in Kentucky. But I always knew that I was going to be famous. I honest to God don’t know how else to describe it. I used to lie in bed and wonder, Am I going to be a local TV person? Am I going to a motivational speaker? It wasn’t a vision. But as it’s kind of happening, you have this buried understanding: Of course."

That doesn't mean she's completely come to terms with it. During her day with Jonathan Van Meter in New York (which the writer describes as a "seven-hour bender"), she spent a lot of time talking about how uncomfortable she still is with being constantly, obsessively observed. "I’m just really starting to feel like a monkey in a zoo," she says as a woman at the next table over blatantly photographs her. People often tell her to make peace with it, but "I am just not OK with it," she says. Of course, the interview is also peppered with Lawrence's signature amusing comments ("Should we just get drunk?" she suggests to Van Meter. Later, to her best friend, freshly arrived from lunch with an ex: "PS, perfect outfit. And your butt looks great in that skirt.") and stories (ex-boyfriend Nicholas Hoult didn't wring out his sponges, "and I was like, 'See? These are the kinds of things that make me think we are never going to work.'"). Click for the whole thing. (More Jennifer Lawrence stories.)
