A donkey in Israel is faring much better, thank you, after getting a brand new pair of pants. Haim the donkey was abused before finding a home at the Ramat Gan Safari, the Middle East's largest animal sanctuary, the Times of Israel reports. Haim's previous owner used to tie him up with barbed wire and let children abuse him. So when he arrived at the sanctuary, Haim was ill at ease around people and had almost no fur left on his legs, where he he had been bound.

He has since become comfortable around people—even children—but his legs failed to heal. Flies were biting his raw skin, causing Haim to scratch his legs and leave sores that drew even more flies. So safari staff made him a pair of pants that's tough on the outside and soft on the inside. And two women rub his legs with cream every day. It's working well so far, and Haim has a treat coming up: a pair of back-leg pants to complete his outfit and facilitate his healing. (More donkey stories.)
