Reality TV isn't all relationship drama and crazy fights, as Gia Allemand's recent suicide sadly proves. Radar rounds up 18 more genuine tragedies that have come out of the genre:

  • Bruce Beresford-Redman, the Survivor producer accused of killing his wife, has been ordered to return to Mexico and stand trial.
  • Estranged Real Housewives husband Russell Armstrong killed himself in 2011.
  • When Danny Bonaduce attempted suicide in 2005, it was actually captured by reality show cameras.

  • Two years after he appeared on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, Joseph Cerniglia jumped to his death off a bridge.
  • And after appearing on Ramsay's other show, Hell's Kitchen, Rachel Brown shot herself.
  • Paula Goodspeed, who auditioned for American Idol but didn't make it, killed herself in front of Paula Abdul's house.
  • Deadliest Catch captain Phil Harris died from a stroke in 2010.
  • Jackass star Ryan Dunn died when his Porsche ran off the road into a tree in 2011. Alcohol was involved.
  • Buckwild star Shain Gandee was found dead in his truck in West Virginia; he had been off-roading with friends, and carbon monoxide poisoning was suspected.
