Armstrong, UK Times Settle Libel Suit

Britain's Sunday Times and Lance Armstrong have settled an almost decade-long legal battle over the disgraced cyclist's doping, the Times reports via a headline that proclaims Armstrong a "drug cheat." Terms of the deal are confidential, but the paper calls it a "mutually acceptable final resolution." The Times had paid Armstrong $470,000 in a 2006 libel settlement over 2004 articles it ran detailing his alleged doping; it sued to the tune of $1.6 million to recoup that settlement and damages after Armstrong admitted to Oprah in January that he had in fact used in all seven Tour de France wins.
