If things sounded bad before for Mike Tyson, who admitted to being "totally broke" in 2010, well ... the ensuing years haven't been overly kind. The former boxer made his debut as a fight promoter on Friday, and what he said in a post-fight presser at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY, is raising eyebrows: "I'm on the verge of dying because I'm a vicious alcoholic and I've been, um, wow ... this is some interesting stuff, I've been, um ... I haven't drank or took drugs in six days," ESPN reports an emotional Tyson as saying, to applause. "And for me, that's a miracle."

The 47-year-old went on to admit to lying about his sobriety in the past and pledge to stick to a sober life in the future. "I'm never gonna use again," he said. Writing for Fox Sports, Tully Corcoran wasn't too startled by the admission: "Tyson always has had a tendency to drop his baggage in the middle of the lobby. His many confessions have tended to come straight out of nowhere, which is probably a big part of the reason people like him now. He does not appear to be orchestrating some kind of thing in the media." (More Mike Tyson stories.)
