The combined teen dreamboat power of One Direction was still not enough to topple the mighty O at the Labor Day weekend box office: Oprah's The Butler took the No. 1 position for the third week running, raking in another $20 million. One Direction's eponymous 3D documentary opened with $18 million for the four-day holiday, reports the LA Times. Overall, it was a record-breaking Labor Day weekend, with an estimated of $157 million in revenue—beating out the previous 2007 record of $148 million.
Rounding out the rest of the Top 5, per the Hollywood Reporter: We're the Millers continued its strong run, coming in at No. 3 with $15.9 million. Disney's Planes scored $10.7 million for No. 4. And at No. 5, the Spanish-language Instructions Not Included earned $10 million—pretty good given it was only playing in 347 theaters. The weekend's biggest flop? Selene Gomez's Getaway—which was absolutely slammed by the critics—opened to just $5.5 million to take No. 10. Ouch. (More box office stories.)
