Key Black Leaders Back Clinton in SC

Hillary Clinton won endorsements today from two influential black women in South Carolina, who both asked African Americans to look past their enthusiasm for Barack Obama, the AP reports. Clinton has concentrated on wooing white voters there, but today she visited historically black Benedict College, where dean Stacey Franklin Jones said it’s crucial to “focus on our community’s future rather than acting on pure emotion.”

Meanwhile, Jim Clyburn still isn’t tapping a candidate, the Washington Post reports. The congressman remains undeclared even though he's made his personal choice ahead of tomorrow's Democratic primary. The state’s most influential politician said he was “sympathetic” to the challenge of battling the Clintons, but he mentioned that Barack Obama hasn’t collected any important black nods in the state.
