Mom's Botched Suicide Attempts Lead to Dead Kids
Marilyn Edge is accused of murder after her children were found dead in a CA hotel room.   (abc15com)

An Arizona woman reportedly tried to kill herself Saturday in Santa Ana, California, in what the Arizona Republic describes as two "bizarre botched attempts." Police say Marilyn Edge slammed her car into an electrical box in a shopping mall parking lot; there was a propane tank in her front seat. The car didn't explode, and when police arrived on the scene and asked her to exit the vehicle, she tried to strangle herself with an electrical cord. Responders broke the window and removed her—and then Edge told paramedics about her dead kids.

The 42-year-old's 10-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son were found dead in a hotel room near Disneyland, reports WSBTV. It's not yet known how they died, but a police rep says neither gunshot nor stab wounds were found. It's also not yet known why Edge was in California. The Republic reports she moved from Georgia to Scottsdale without her husband this year; WSBTV talked to relatives who said the children's father had custody. She has been arrested and booked on suspicion of murder in the deaths. (Another tragic crime story from the weekend: An unarmed man was killed as he sought help after a car wreck.)
