If you're wondering why people don't seem to be taking accusations about the Benghazi consulate attack seriously, look no further than the meeting at the Heritage Foundation yesterday. Some people raised serious questions, writes Dana Milbank at the Washington Post, but they were drowned out by "participants who rolled around the grassy knoll." The leader of the group holding the gathering said that the Obama administration "has a policy of supporting al-Qaeda," and other panelists agreed—including Rep. Frank Wolf, who wants to form a committee investigating Benghazi.

This would be the same administration that killed Osama bin Laden and has ravaged al-Qaeda with drone strikes. "Sorry, Congressman. I've got an appointment back on Earth," Milbank quips. One participant, Gen. Paul Vallely, raised the valid question of why "there was not even an attempt at a rescue." But congressional investigators have ignored that question, perhaps "because activists pushing for the inquiry are distracted by wild theories." One panelist at the event asserted that Obama intends to outlaw criticism of Islam. Click for Milbank's full column. (More Dana Milbank stories.)
