All the attention worked: The Nodaway County prosecutor has asked for "Daisy's case," which centers around the alleged rapes of two teens in Maryville, Missouri, to be reopened. Robert Rice had initially dropped the charges against the suspects, but now he's asked a judge to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the case. Until Daisy Coleman went on CNN saying she would testify, "the witnesses never told me that they were willing to cooperate and testify," Rice tells KCTV. "They understood that when they at that time invoked their 5th Amendment right, that by doing so was going to force the dismissal of the case, they understood that." (The families have denied this claim.)
After reviewing the evidence, the special prosecutor will decide whether to bring new charges, the Atlantic Wire reports. Coleman tells KSHB she's "more than excited" at the news. Says her mom, "Just to have people listen and look at it with an objective eye is huge for us because we haven’t had that until this point."
