Who knew the analysis of architectural records could be so scintillating? The Salt Lake Tribune obtained those very records for Mitt Romney's not-yet-built home in Holladay, Utah, and made a fascinating discovery: a secret room. And yes, it's actually hidden behind a bookcase. As the paper explains, the second bookshelf along the study's far wall is in fact a door (marked "hidden door" in an architectural drawing) that will swing out to allow access to an 11-foot-long room.

The drawing identifies the clandestine room as a place for "office storage," and it does indeed feature cabinets; Romney's rep wouldn't comment on it. Up for debate: Whether the "secret room" is the home's best feature. The plans also call for an outdoor spa off the master bathroom. The 5,900-square-foot Holladay home joins a second home in Utah, a vacation home in New Hampshire, his Massachusetts condo, and that much-discussed California beach house.
