Actress Marcia Wallace, best known as the voice of Springfield Elementary teacher Mrs. Krabappel on The Simpsons and wisecracking secretary Carol Kester on The Bob Newhart Show, has died, Entertainment Weekly reports. She was 70 years old. "She was beloved by all at The Simpsons and we intend to retire her irreplaceable character," producer Al Jean said in a statement. Wallace, who had previously overcome breast cancer, won an Emmy for her work on the long-running cartoon in 1992, and was nominated for another in 1994 for a guest role on Murphy Brown, the Hollywood Reporter reports.
