ND Town Fights Whites-Only Plan With ... Building Codes

It's pretty darn crafty: The tiny town of Leith, ND, doesn't want a white supremacist and his friends to take over, so it's using building codes and ordinances in the quest to stop him. The city council last night OKed a moratorium on any new building until zoning laws can be updated; KFGO reports the moratorium will last six months. The city also held a "first reading" of a uniform building code that will require all homes to have water and sewer. This could be problematic for Craig Cobb, who is currently living with three white male supremacists and two kids in a house that lacks water and sewage (and heat).

The city will meet next Sunday in hopes of finalizing the water and sewage ordinance, along with a second ordinance that bars trailers and tents from occupying a lot for any longer than 10 days in a row, ostensibly to throw a wrench into Cobb's calls to have others move onto some of the dozen lots he owns. Cobb reacted in no uncertain terms, reports the Bismarck Tribune, declaring that he will now considering renaming the town "Village of the Damned" once his takeover plan is complete.
