Federal investigators will take their own look at the death of Kendrick Johnson, the Georgia teen who was found dead in a rolled-up gym mat. "My goal, and my oath, requires me to follow the facts," US Attorney Michael Moore said today, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Several questions must be answered or confirmed." He warned, however, that his jurisdiction in the case was limited. Police have called the death accidental.
"We're happy," Johnson's mother tells CNN. "The only thing we ever wanted was the truth." Just yesterday, a judge gave CNN access to surveillance images and investigative files related to the case. The network has been investigating the case for months, and recently confirmed that someone else was in the gym with Johnson when he died. A doctor hired by Johnson's family found that he'd suffered "non-accidental" trauma, and that his internal organs had been replaced with newspaper after his autopsy. (More Kendrick Johnson stories.)
