Another strange twist in the Nashville plane crash that went unnoticed for hours last month: The Canadian pilot who died in the crash inexplicably claimed Taylor Swift as his next of kin. "The first we heard of this was when the appropriate authorities contacted Taylor's management about the crash," Swift's publicist tells the Tennessean. "Taylor does not know this person." Michael Callan circled the airport for more than two hours in heavy fog before crash-landing. "We don't know what he was doing," says a police spokesperson, but the crash is still considered accidental at this point.

Callan's original flight plan was to take him from his Windsor, Ontario, flight club to Pelee Island in Lake Erie—hundreds of miles from Nashville. It's unclear why Callan ended up in the US and then didn't try to contact the Nashville airport. What's more, an investigator said the plane's transponder had been turned off, possibly to avoid detection; it could also have malfunctioned. As for his actual next of kin, Callan has two sisters who want to keep their brother's details private. He was previously convicted on robbery and child porn offenses, the Windsor Star reports.
