German students are capitalizing on their assets—nude calendars, raising money for charities and better conditions on campus, are all the rage. While some of the calendars have a whimsical feel, professional photographers have gotten in on the action, too. But "they work primarily with sports students, who tend to have somewhat more toned physique," Der Spiegel reports.

The trend began at a university in Deggendorf, Bavaria, in 2003 and quickly spread nationwide, all the way to church groups, including the Lutheran congregation of Katzwang. Students raised money for that house of worship with a biblical-themed calendar. They stripped down to their skivvies to reenact scenes from the Holy Book. Surely Michelangelo would approve.
