A senseless killing in Alabama: The sister of a woman shot dead after last week's Iron Bowl game says she was killed by a fellow fan enraged that her group didn't seem upset enough by the Crimson Tide's loss to archrivals Auburn, reports the Clarion-Ledger. Michelle Shepherd, a 36-year-old mother of three, was shot dead outside an apartment building in a Birmingham suburb after an Iron Bowl party. Adrian Laroze Briskey, 28, has been charged with the murder and police say she didn't know the victim before the party.

The victim's sister says Briskey had been downing shots of liquor during the game and "went crazy" when she heard the sisters joking that the loss didn't matter as much as the NBA's Miami Heat losing. The argument continued outside the building after the party. "She said we weren't real Alabama fans because it didn't bother us that they lost. And then she started shooting," the sister tells the AP. "It was over a football game. I'm never going to forget it because she died in my arms." (More Alabama Crimson Tide stories.)
