America Went Nuts Over Walmart's $1.74 Towels

Walmart sold 2 million televisions on Black Friday ... and 2.8 million towels. Yes, towels were the hot seller, with a million more sold this year than last year. That's probably because one of Walmart's specials was a bath towel or a six-pack of washcloths for $1.74, or 29 cents per washcloth, NBC News reports. But even towels inspired scuffles, which is "pretty outrageous," according to one Cornell prof.

"It's something that you imagine most people have. It's not the equivalent of a Cabbage Patch Doll. They're not fighting over a PS4. They're fighting over towels." NBC points to a video, sadly since removed, showing a man leaving the towel—not tablet—section while holding his stomach and being helped along by another man. (Tablets? Just 1.4 million of those were sold.)
