Whether or not he is the big spender behind the TipsforJesus mystery, Jack Selby can probably expect an amazing level of service next time he walks into a restaurant. The venture capitalist and former PayPal exec has been identified as the man behind the massive tips left at establishments across the country by a server at a New York City restaurant who says Selby was part of a party that left a $1,000 tip on a $111 tab.
"As I was about to drop the check off, one of the men said they would 'make my night.' They called me over, gave me the check—I was amazed," the server tells the New York Post. He posed for a picture, which later appeared on the TipsforJesus Instagram account. Selby can certainly afford to share the wealth, notes the International Business Times: He made most of his fortune in 2002, when eBay snapped up PayPal for $1.5 billion. (More tips stories.)
