It is, as Deadspin says, "your feel-good Olympic story of the day." Roberto Carcelen, who happens to be Peru's first Winter Olympian, finished last today in the 15km cross-country race. And we mean really last, as in about 30 minutes behind the winner. But Carcelen, now a Seattle resident who broke a rib while training just a few weeks ago, got a rousing ovation as he grabbed a Peruvian flag from a spectator in the home stretch. And there to greet him at the finish line was the gold-medal winner, Dario Cologna of Switzerland, reports NBC News. (More 2014 Sochi Olympics stories.)
