Google Reinventing the Search

Google has gotten a lot of mileage out of its supremely simple search interface, but now it’s exploring ways to reinvent that wheel. Users can now experiment with three new views: info view, timeline view, and map view. None of them is all that revolutionary, but they represent a major attempt to rework a time-tested formula, MIT's Technology Review reports.

Each new view sorts information differently, with info sorting by measurements and data, timeline by date, and maps by location. Google’s product manager says the experiment will lead to more innovations down the line. “People think that search is a solved problem,” he said. “I think we’re still in the early days.
