Today in the Bizarre Lawsuits Department: Alanis Morissette's husband says the couple's housekeeper stole ... their dog. Rapper Souleye, real name Mario Treadway, says in the suit that he and Morissette found Circus, a Chihuahua/pug stray, in 2011; they ended up adopting the dog when no one claimed it from an animal shelter. But apparently their "House Manager," Maria Garcia, got a bit attached to the pooch when she cared for it while the couple traveled.

The lawsuit claims Garcia has the dog and won't give it back, and sent an email saying she wanted "ownership" of the pup as part of her severance package after she was fired in January. The couple wants more than $25,000 and the dog back, but TMZ reports that since animals are considered property under California law, a judge would typically order monetary reimbursement rather than the return of a specific dog. The Irish Independent notes that it's not Morissette's first legal battle with a staffer: Last year, the couple's former nanny sued, saying she was forced to work a 12-hour shift with no break.
