A Texas woman crashed into two parked cars Saturday night, killing her two young sons, and police say the accident was her fault. Crystal Suniga, 30, allegedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.18, twice the legal limit, and police estimate she could have been driving more than three times the 30mph speed limit—possibly as high as 100mph—when she lost control and crashed in Irving around 8pm. Ricardo Hernandez, 10, and Angel Reyes, 14, died; Suniga's 16-year-old son was also in the car and suffered a crushed pelvis. Suniga and her 12-year-old daughter, also a passenger, suffered minor injuries.
Suniga, who was initially brought to the hospital but was set to be transferred to jail last night, was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of injury to a child, NBC DFW reports. "We heard a little girl screaming for help, and we ran with my brothers to try to get people out," says a neighbor who helped Suniga and the two injured children out of the vehicle. "We didn’t know until the little girl said that there were still two kids in the car, that’s when we tried to break the window, open the other windows, that’s when we saw the bodies." Suniga's SUV hit two cars in a driveway of a home, rolled onto its side, and ended up resting against the house, CBS DFW reports.
