Good news everyone: Tomorrow, for one day only, Google is letting the general public buy Google Glass, without having to participate in a fawning social media contest, the Wall Street Journal reports. Now, the only thing standing between you and the eye-mounted gadget is any aversions you have to looking like a dork, getting headaches, seeming creepy, getting ticketed, or being assaulted—either in a bar, or on the street, as Business Insider writer Kyle Russell says he was on Friday.

Oh, and possibly your bank account, because Google is sticking with the $1,500 price tag it charged its hand-selected early adopters. "I had to read that twice to make sure it wasn't an April Fool," Guy Clapperton at Forbes writes. "They're really going to charge that much and then withdraw it immediately." Despite all the negative press, Clapperton still believes the technology has some practical applications. But to establish itself it needs "a long-term, more sensibly-priced push."
