Ex-Rivals Vie For Edwards' Backing

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are chasing John Edwards' endorsement, and Obama should be worried by their ex-rival's cold feet, Washington Post blogger Dan Balz writes. Edwards may seem a good fit for the change candidate, and the two often teamed up against Clinton on the campaign trail, but "outward appearances suggest he is genuinely torn," Balz writes.

Clinton and Edwards met last week; Obama canceled a meeting today, citing scheduling conflicts, CNN reports. Some tensions were evident in Edwards’ attacks on Obama's health-care plan, and he has met with Clinton several times recently.
